The Rauma model of leisure offers a wide range of free leisure activities for children and young people
The Rauma model is part of the Model Finland for Hobbies project. Its aim is to enable every child and young person to have a pleasant and free hobby close to the school day.
Free hobby clubs for primary and secondary school children are organised in Rauma every weekday before and after the school day.
The clubs run from 8am to 10am and in the afternoon from 1pm onwards throughout the school term. The activities are mainly aimed at pupils in Year 3 and above. The majority of pupils in Years 1 and 2 take part in after-school activities, which offer a wide range of physical activities and activities.
The wishes of children and young people have been taken into account in the design
Activities have been selected according to the wishes of children and young people. The results of a national survey of school children and a sports survey commissioned by the sports services have been used.
The range of clubs on offer includes various sports clubs, parkour, scaffolding, bowling, theatre, visual arts and digital clubs.
The clubs are mainly held on school premises and near the city centre. Children and young people can also take part in activities in another school. The digital clubs offer remote access to coding and e-sports classes.
As a general rule, you will travel to the activities on your own. If the journey is long or otherwise challenging, you can apply for a free local transport card. You can apply for a travel card using a separate form.
More information about the Rauma Hobby Model, the list of hobbies, registration links and the application form for a travel card can be found on the City of Rauma website at rauma.fi/harrastamisen-rauman-malli.
